ENVI Committee mass balance debate

An additional layer of uncertainty has been added by the European Commission representative’s suggestion, in today’s ENVI Committee meeting, that any rules to be adopted within the Implementing Decisions under the SUP could be subject to future review under the PPWR. This should serve as a clear incentive for the industry to ensure compliance and transparency with the rules to be adopted to avoid any suggestion of greenwashing or outcompeting mechanical recyclers.
